Its Composition

The Bible is a collection of 66 separate books and letters, written over a period of some 1,500 years culminating approximately 100 years after Christ’s death and resurrection. It is divided into the Old Testament (the first 39 books) and the New Testament (the last 27 books). The Bible has stood the test of time, yet is now read more than any other book and by people of widely varying cultures.

Its Writers

There were many different writers, who lived and wrote from different walks of life and different social positions. Most of them had no contact with each other and no means of knowing that when their writings were all put together as one book it would be complete, all parts agreeing in doctrine, teaching and prophecy.

Its Content

The Bible is the story of God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is not primarily a book of history, but its stories of God’s dealings with individuals and with nations are as pertinent to the modern world as they have been to every age since they were written.

It is not primarily a book of science. Some of its statements show  knowledge of the world of science which the writer could not have had except from divine revelation. It is not primarily a book of philosophy, but it does argue the existence of God. The Bible however speaks to everyman from the simplest to the most sophisticated at his own level of understanding.

Throughout the Old Testament the theme of the redemption of mankind is developed and God unfolds His covenant with man and nations. In the New Testament all that has been foreshadowed in the Old Testament comes to reality. God Himself comes to earth in the person of Jesus Christ. He is rejected and crucified, but rises from the dead in triumph. He sends his disciples out in the power of the Holy Spirit to carry His message of love and forgiveness to the four corners of the earth.

The great vision of the book of Revelation with which the Bible ends, reinforces the warnings of the whole book regarding the consequences of rejecting God’s light and love, and in the poetic terms describes the future of the redeemed in heaven.

Its Power And Effect

The Bible has the power not only to inform-but to reform and to transform lives. Through its influence countless people have been given a new strength, an unnerving purpose and a sure hope in life. To the dying it has brought peace and assurance of eternal life. It has brought blessings to millions in every land and age.

It is supernatural in origin, eternal in duration, divine in authorship, infallible in authority, inexhaustible in meaning, universal in readership, unique in revelation, personal in application and powerful in effect. It is given to us in this life to guide us, and it will be used to judge us. Come to it with awe, read it with reverence, frequently and prayerfully.

“And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” (Revelation 22 v 19)

Jesus loves you. Did you know that you can personally receive Jesus as your saviour right now? And feel reborn, free and cleansed from sin?

“As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His Name.”

How Do We Accept Jesus Christ?

1.      We must truly acknowledge that we have missed God’s standards, by not obeying his commandments, laws and statues, and therefore really need his forgiveness.

The Bible says, “For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

2.      We need to confess our sins to Jesus and ask Him to forgive us.

The Bible says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.”

The Bible says, “ That If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10 v 9)

So if you really want to be in the right relationship with God and have a fresh new life today, pray this prayer with all your heart.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Forgive me for living apart from you and going my own way.

I am sorry for all my sins. Thank you for taking the punishment I deserved on the cross, and for making the way back to God for me.

I now turn from my sinful ways, and turn to you, and now walk your way.

Forgive me and cleanse from all my sins and be total lord of my life.

I believe you rose from the dead and that you will live your resurrected life through me, making me the person you want me to be.

Thank you for the promise that you have heard my prayer and that I am now saved and am now your child.

I promise to follow you all the remaining days of my life.

 In Jesus name I pray.

 AMEN.

1.      Tell someone you have committed your life to Jesus and join a good Bible teaching church.

2.      Obtain a personal copy of the Bible and begin to read it on a daily basis. I suggest that you commence reading from the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John). For those of you unable to gain access to a Bible, try the internet as an option. There are several possibilities open to you. You may also visit this website regularly and or register to receive my newsletter, enabling you to gain further knowledge and understanding of the scriptures.

3.      Associate and surround yourself with Christians whom have faith. They will support, teach and encourage you, enabling you to become established in your new future.

  Jesus
Christ
Died
For You

Jesus loves you so much, that he died on the cross in our place, taking the penalty we truly deserved for rejecting God. Now you can choose to accept him today as your Saviour and Lord, or reject him and pay the price yourself.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

                                                                         (Romans 6 v23)

“I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”

                                                                         (John 3v 3)

“Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”

                                                                         (John 1 v 12)

Jesus wants to meet you as your saviour and friend NOW, not later as your judge. Accept Him now while you can. Do not procrastinate nor delay, by putting-off for tomorrow what you should do today. You may never get a second chance to inherit eternal life and a place in heaven.

Articles written by Simon Weston generally focus readers toward the central point of history......Jesus Christ. Because of His death and resurrection, Jesus has remained the answer to life’s most pressing questions.

It is only Jesus Christ who can change the hardest hearts of mankind into God’s most effective witnesses. More than twenty centuries have passed, yet Jesus remains the most powerful force known to mankind. Though kingdoms have come and gone, powerful political systems have risen and fallen, dictators and kings have crumbled to dust, all of them combined have not impacted the world as the Son of God.

When we gain understanding of how the Old and New Testaments in the Bible are connected miraculously through Jesus, history’s pages and the future come alive with a life-changing message that should embolden each believer, more than ever before, to share God’s wonderful gift of salvation. When you accept Jesus into your life, the most exciting adventure in your future begins.
