First Thessalonians equips believers to help their brothers and sisters in Christ.
The Thessalonian church was young and they needed help and encouragement. Both the persecution they faced and the temptations of their pagan culture were potential problems for believers. Apostle Paul wrote to strengthen their faith and bolster their resistance to persecution and temptation.
Paul challenges the Thessalonians to please God in their daily living and comforts them by reminding of the hope of the resurrection. He also warns them to be prepared at all times for Jesus Christ could return at any moment. When Christ returns, those Christians who are alive and those who have died will be raised to new life.
Every Christian has a responsibility to help new believers, to make sure they continue in their faith and do not become distracted by wrong beliefs or practices.
