Remember Your Creator

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” (Psalm 90 v 12)

Realizing that life is short helps us to use the little time we have more wisely and for eternal good. Each of us should take time to number our days by asking:-

1.      What do I want to see happen in my life before I die?

2.      What small step could I take toward that purpose today?

A life without God can produce a bitter, lonely and hopeless old age. A life centred around God is fulfilling (when disabilities, sickness and handicaps cause barriers to enjoying life), and satisfying because of the hope of eternal life.

Being young is exciting. But the excitement of youth can become a barrier to closeness with God, if it makes young people focus on worldly pleasures instead of eternal values. Instead make your strength available to God during your youthful years. Do not waste it on evil or meaningless activities that become bad habits and make you callous. Seek God now!

“Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you say, I have no pleasure in them.” (Ecclesiastes 12 v 1)

Individuals from all nations will have to stand before God and be judged for what they did in this life. People will not be able to use life’s inconsistencies as an excuse for failing to live in accordance with the Bible. To do so you must:-

1.      Recognize that human effort apart from God’s is futile.

2.      Put God first – now!

3.      Receive everything good as a gift from God.

4.      Realize that God will judge both good and evil.

5.      Know that God will be the judge.

God has set eternity in our hearts. This means mankind can never be completely satisfied with earthly pleasures and pursuits. Because we are created in God’s image:-

1.      Each of us have a spiritual thirst.

2.      Each of us have eternal value.

3.      Nothing but the eternal God can truly satisfy us.

God has built inside each of us, a restless yearning for the kind of perfect world that can only be found in his perfect rule. He has given us a glimpse through His creation. But it is only a glimpse. It is impossible for the human mind to see into the future and comprehend what God has planned. Therefore each of us must trust God now, walk by faith and fulfil his purpose on earth.
