Why Did Jesus have To Die On The Cross?

“And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.” (Mark 15 v 37)

The Problem

We have all done things that are wrong and have failed to obey God’s law. Because of this, mankind has become separated from God our Creator. Separation from God is spiritual death; therefore by ourselves, we can do nothing to become re-united with God.

Why Jesus Could Help Mankind

Jesus was not only a man, He is also the Son of God. Because Jesus never disobeyed God and never sinned, only He is able to bridge the gap between God and sinful mankind.

The Solution

Jesus freely offered His life for us, dying on the cross in our place, taking all our transgressions and sins upon himself, and saving us from the consequences of sin – including God’s judgment and death.

The Results

“Ye must be born again” (John 3 v 7)

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved” (Acts 16 v 31)

“And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Acts 2 v 21)

Jesus took our past, present and future sins so that we can have a new life. When we become ‘born-again’ all our sins are forgiven and we are reconciled to God. Furthermore, Jesus resurrection from the dead is the proof that His substitutionary sacrifice on the cross was acceptable to God. His resurrection has become the source of new life for whoever believes that Jesus Christ, is the Son of God. All who believe will have a new life and live it, in union with Him.
